Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a School Support Associate to provide statewide outreach services for children with vision impairments and deafblindness. The role is based in St.

Louis and involves coordinating with schools, agencies, and families to implement education strategies and program objectives. You will support the Outreach Director, coordinate the Braille Challenge, deliver professional development, and prepare reports while staying current with

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Experience with students with multiple disabilities, vision impairments and deafblindness is preferred.
  • Ability to learn assistive technologies used by students birth-21 years.

Responsibilities

  • Support Outreach Director and DeafBlind Coordinator to deliver services and meet grant objectives.
  • Act as regional coordinator for the annual Braille Challenge.
  • Present to local and state agencies on support for students with deafblindness and training for interveners.
  • Coordinate with Outreach staff to provide on-site consultation and educational activities.
  • Prepare written reports of services and participate in meetings with schools and agencies.
  • Provide instructional strategies and maintain knowledge of best practices through development.
  • Collaborate with agencies to deliver professional development for families and educational teams.
  • Assist in data collection and required reporting to federal/state agencies.
