Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working with students with multiple disabilities, vision impairments, deafblindness, and/or deafness/hard of hearing.
  • Experience or willingness to learn assistive technologies used by students with multiple disabilities, vision impairments, deafblindness, and/or deafness/hard of hearing (birth through 21 years).
  • Experience developing and coordinating workshops, courses, and/or in-service trainings for educational teams.
  • Experience working with local, state, and national organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Support Outreach Director and DeafBlind Coordinator in ensuring outreach services and grant objectives are provided to agencies, families, schools and providers.
  • Act as the regional coordinator for the annual Braille Challenge.
  • Present to local and state agencies about deafblind support, including Intervener training and coaching.
  • Coordinate with Outreach staff to provide onsite consultation and educational activities reflecting best practices in vision, audition, cognition, communication, and Expanded Core Curriculum.
  • Prepare written reports of services
  • Participate in meetings with schools, agencies, and parents regarding technical assistance and best practices for students with disabilities.
  • Provide instructional strategies and methodology recommendations for the student and team.
  • Maintain knowledge of current evidence-based practices through professional development.
  • Coordinate trainings for families and educational teams for students with disabilities.
