Job summary

Maryland School for the Deaf seeks Residential Child and Youth Care Practitioners (RCYCP) to guide and mentor deaf and hard of hearing students in a dorm setting. Positions include Second Shift and Overnight Shift with varying hours and weekends.

Staff provide daily living support, crisis response, and coordination with families and school staff. Candidates must have HS diploma or GED (or AA/BA) and be fluent in American Sign Language.

Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language is required.
• Education: HS diploma or GED; or AA/BA degree.
• Experience: 1 year guiding deaf and hard of hearing youth in student life.
• Substitution: 60 credit hours may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe environment and ensure student safety at all times.
• Contact parents/guardians and teachers weekly or as directed.
• Mentor students and support assimilation into Deaf culture.
• Help students with daily living, homework, schedules, and hygiene.
