Job summary

The Learning Center for the Deaf in Framingham, MA seeks a Walden School Principal to lead instructional programs and supervise staff. This 12-month, full-time, in-person role requires MA DESE licensure as a Principal or related field and ASL fluency.

Responsibilities include overseeing IEP goals, supervising teachers and day staff, collaborating with families and agencies, maintaining a department budget, and ensuring compliance with education standards.

Qualifications

• Licensed by MA DESE as a Principal or related licensure field.
• Master’s degree in content area or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Teacher in an educational classroom.
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
• Conversational fluency in American Sign Language; near-native preferred.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record.

Responsibilities

• Supervises educational programming designed to meet MA standards.
• Oversees development of each student’s IEP goals and progress reports.
• Direct supervision of Day Supervisor and all Teachers through observations and meetings.
• Collaborates with families, LEAs, DCF workers, and other agencies.
• Coordinates with clinical, residential, and nursing departments within Walden School and TLC classrooms.
• Implements disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Develops and maintains a department budget; procures materials for teaching/learning.
• Serves on TLC educational supervisory team to provide leadership.
• Some lifting and physical duties may be required; accommodations provided where possible.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by Department Supervisor/Program Leader.
