Reporting to the Deaf Mentor Coordinator, the areas of responsibility are to provide parent education for the Deaf Mentor Program in conjunction with the Early Learning Program and Arizona Early Intervention Program as mandated by Part C (0-3) of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. This position requires the provision of sensitive and effective communication with families according to individual family needs, recognizing the diverse cultures and language backgrounds served by the program. This position also directs families to community resources. Travel is required for delivery of services.
Effectively schedule and conduct home visits and instruction both in person and via remote technology, selecting and implementing the appropriate curriculum to meet the needs of deaf, hard of hearing or deaf‑blind children as defined in their IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan)/IEP (Individual Education Plan) outcomes. Create and maintain reports and documentation in compliance with federal and state laws.
A minimum of 4 years professional Deaf Mentorship experience or from a related position may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. Or a combination of education and experience, with experience granted on a year‑to‑year basis when accepting a combination of education and professional experience.
