Job summary

The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf to support both regular and special education staff in adapting instructional strategies for students with hearing loss and to deliver direct instruction.

The TOD will also serve as a liaison with community agencies serving deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families. On-site responsibilities require residency or reliable commuting to Bennington County, VT.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• Licensed in Vermont within 90 days of hire with specialized training in deaf/hard of hearing education (Special Education, TOD endorsement or provisional endorsement).
• Three years' experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe, consult with, and assist regular and special education staff as they adapt classroom instructional strategies for students with varying degrees of hearing loss.
• Provide direct instruction and act as a liaison between the school and community agencies serving deaf or hard of hearing children and their families.
