Job summary

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH Teacher) to join our full-time, Hayward, CA school-based team. This role offers the chance to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students with specialized instruction and collaboration across classrooms.

You will work with families, interpreters, and service providers to ensure access to resources, monitor progress, and contribute to IEP development in an inclusive educational setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
• California teaching certification with Deaf or Hard of Hearing endorsement, or eligibility for certification.
• Experience working with pediatric or school-aged populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in accordance with IEP goals.
• Assess student performance and monitor academic, social, and communication development.
• Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies to support student success.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, interpreters, and related service providers.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress reporting.
• Support language acquisition, literacy development, self-advocacy, and communication skills.
• Consult with families and school staff regarding accommodations, modifications, and best practices.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district, state, and federal guidelines.
