Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Schools is seeking a Teacher for Deaf & Hard of Hearing to provide specialized instruction and coordinate services for students who are deaf and/or hard of hearing. You will develop adapted lessons, teach communication methods (total, sign, and/or cued) and collaborate with families and staff to support access to the general education curriculum.

The role requires planning, presenting lessons, supervising students, attending meetings, and contributing to program goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing from a regionally accredited college or university required.
• Master's Degree in Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
• Experience teaching the deaf and/or hard of hearing preferred.
• Knowledge of signing and interpreting; proficiency in teaching methods for diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, selects, modifies, prepares and presents lessons for deaf or hard of hearing students across settings.
• Development of staff awareness and orientation programs.
• Demonstrates and uses varied teaching strategies to present content.
• Maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning and discipline.
• Participates in conferences with teachers and parents regarding student progress.
