Job summary

NC School for the Deaf is seeking an educator to provide academic instruction for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a residential setting. The role emphasizes differentiating instruction, coordinating IEPs, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The candidate should hold a NC Teaching License with eligibility in Deaf Education or related areas, and demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills. ASL proficiency is required, with ASLPI Level 3 or higher preferred.

Qualifications

  • ASL proficiency required; ASLPI Level 3 or higher preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field is expected.
  • Teaching license and eligibility in Deaf Education or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct instructional activities for K-12 students in reading, math, science and other areas as needed.
  • Prepare and manage IEPs, plan lessons, and document student progress and behavior.
  • Coordinate with teaching assistants, student teachers, and related staff; conduct field trips and meetings.
