Qualifications

  • Master's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university.
  • Professional licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist issued by the state.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders affecting deaf/hard-of-hearing students.
  • Ability to use and adapt tests and measurements to assess communication disorders in deaf/hard-of-hearing students.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use sign language, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent evaluations to assess students with speech or language disorders to determine eligibility for services and progress.
  • Plan and provide individual and group therapy aligned with IEP goals for deaf/hard-of-hearing students.
  • Participate in IEP committees to interpret assessment data and set appropriate goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement classroom activities to improve communication skills.
  • Provide professional development in schools to help staff identify communication deficits.
  • Communicate with colleagues, students and parents regarding therapy goals and progress.
  • Develop and coordinate ongoing evaluation of speech-language pathology services and adjust as needed.
  • Assist in equipment and instructional materials selection.
  • Maintain and file reports and records as required.
  • Comply with policies and confidentiality.
