GENERAL FUNCTION:

What is a De Novo? A De Novo is a new location that is being opened and staffed from the ground up.

As a De Novo Personal Banker, you are responsible for creating a great customer experience and growing a new branch from scratch. Starting a branch with zero customers is a challenging and rewarding task! The Personal Banker focuses on developing new relationships over the phone or in person, engaging in consultative conversations, and asking for referrals. They will also spend some time with the Financial Center Manager on outside business development.

Selected candidates are expected to become a Retail Personal Banker II after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program, which includes rotations in Operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the end of the program to demonstrate the skills necessary for a role within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Retail Personal Banker II role is sales-focused, emphasizing sales development and relationship building through promoting deposits, loans, fee-based services, and customer retention. The role involves selling a full range of banking products and services, providing specialized care and service to customers, and utilizing consultative sales processes.

The role also involves risk management by adhering to policies and procedures, ensuring actions and behaviors promote a positive customer experience, and managing risks effectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to understand customer profiles and financial needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Use marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and schedule financial reviews.
  • Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities like community events and business calls.
  • Build relationships with Business Partners to provide comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Meet or exceed customer experience and sales goals, contributing to revenue growth.
  • Guide Customer Service Representatives in sales and referral processes.
  • Provide friendly, professional service and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Handle customer questions confidently and own customer issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and policies.
  • Participate in the consumer loan and bankcard processes from application to closing.
  • Assist in opening and closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  • Stay updated on procedures to mitigate fraud and risk.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • College degree or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities and cross-selling.
  • Understanding of advanced math for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Retail policies and good judgment for decision-making.
  • Must obtain S.A.F.E. Act registration through NMLS at employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Standard office environment.
  • Prolonged computer screen viewing.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and flexible scheduling.
  • Travel outside the affiliate for training sessions.
