GENERAL FUNCTION:

What is a De Novo? A De Novo is a new location that is being opened and staffed from the ground up.

As a De Novo Personal Banker, you are responsible for creating a great customer experience and growing a new branch from the ground up. Starting a branch with zero customers is a challenging and rewarding task! The Personal Banker focuses most of their time on developing new relationships over the telephone or in person, having great consultative conversations, and asking for referrals. They will also spend some of their time alongside the Financial Center Manager engaging in outside business development.

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker II after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in Operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary to perform successfully within the Retail Personal Banker role. The Retail Personal Banker II position is sales-focused, emphasizing sales development and relationship building through promotion of deposits, loans, fee-based services, and customer retention. Responsibilities include selling a full range of banking products and services to meet customer needs, providing specialized care, and utilizing consultative sales processes with the staff for referrals.

Responsible and accountable for risk management by following policies and procedures, raising concerns, and ensuring actions align with the Bank's risk appetite. Always act in the best interest of customers and colleagues to ensure a positive customer experience. Achieve results by identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks effectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify financial needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Use CAMP and other approved marketing tools to reach out to customers and set appointments for financial reviews.
  • Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities like community financial literacy events and business sales calls.
  • Establish relationships with Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, Investment) and refer customers when appropriate.
  • Meet or exceed customer experience and sales goals, contributing to revenue growth.
  • Guide CSRs on sales and referral processes.
  • Promote customer satisfaction with professionalism and a friendly demeanor.
  • Answer customer questions confidently and own customer issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and act ethically at all times.
  • Follow policies when opening/servicing retail products and participate in loan and bankcard processes.
  • Participate in opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  • Stay updated on procedures to mitigate fraud and risk.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • College degree or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities and cross-selling.
  • Understanding of advanced math for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of retail policies and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS is required at employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard office environment.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
  • Travel outside the affiliate for classroom training sessions.
