Job summary

Arcanum Infrastructure, LLC, based in Baytown, TX, is seeking an onsite Chemical Instrumentation & Digital Control Systems Engineer. You will design, install, calibrate, and optimize Honeywell Experion DCS and SIS in a 24/7 chemical manufacturing environment.

Local candidates only; no relocation offered at this time. Responsibilities include configuring DCS/SIS, implementing SIL loops, running LOPA, troubleshooting, and ensuring IEC 61511 compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrumentation, control systems engineering or related discipline.
• Five years or more of experience in DCS engineering and/or an SIS engineer role with significant responsibility in chemical manufacturing.
• Demonstrated experience leading functional safety lifecycle activities onsite, SRS development, SIL verification, proof testing, MOC, and incident investigations.
• Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) or Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE) certification highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Configure and program the Honeywell Experion DCS system and SIS systems to monitor continuous chemical manufacturing processes.
• Design, implement and test SIS, SIL loops, gas detection networks, PSV, and interlock matrices to mitigate safety risks.
• Use LOPA to evaluate hazards and identify risk reduction strategies for the plant.
• Diagnose and resolve system faults, hardware failures, and software bugs.
• Oversee Honeywell Experion DCS/SIS, monitor alarms and propose safe resolutions.
• Reduce process variability to improve yield and optimize 24/7 operations.
• Develop and review Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS) and perform SIL verification as needed.
