Job summary

Kent is actively seeking a DCS Commissioning Tech to be based in Port Arthur, TX, supporting regional project sites. You will execute test activities, configure and calibrate DCS components, and ensure safe, timely project delivery with emphasis on reliability and regulatory compliance.

Key duties include routine maintenance, loop checks, and coordination with operators during plant startups or shutdowns. Strong English communication and 5+ years of field experience are required.

Qualifications

• Technician certified, preferably with a college technical certificate and 5+ years experience in DCS or PLC service, support and/or configuration commissioning.
• Established track record in front‑line technician commissioning, start‑up and initial platform operations.
• Experience with E‑house commissioning inclusive of transformers, MCC, switchgear and UPS commissioning.
• Hands‑on DCS knowledge at a loop check level and PLC knowledge at a loop check level.
• Hands‑on knowledge of all instrument test equipment such as (but not limited to) HART communicator, Fluke multimeters, Wobulators, pressure simulators such as Druck.
• Console experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of DCS components including I/O modules, controllers, servers, HMIs, and networking equipment.
• Support operations by ensuring proper functioning of control loops, alarms, and interlocks.
• Assist with configuration updates, logic modifications, and system backups under engineer supervision.
• Calibrate and maintain field instrumentation associated with the DCS, such as transmitters, control valves, and analyzers.
• Respond to system alarms and operator‑reported issues in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with process operators and engineers during plant startups, shutdowns, and emergency situations.
• Support the integration of new equipment or process changes into the DCS.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, configurations, and system changes.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, API, IEC).
• Participate in plant turnarounds, shutdowns, and commissioning activities as required.

The DCS Commissioning Technician will execute test activities, ensure instruments are perfectly configured and working optimally, delivering on safety, quality, time and costs of the tests in their remit.
