Job summary

Puffer-Sweiven is seeking an automation software engineer in Texas to design, implement, and optimize control system applications for process industries. You will work with DCS configurations, PLC programming, SIS, alarm management, and HMI graphics (iFIX), collaborating with plant engineers and vendors to deliver reliable solutions.

The role emphasizes supporting safety systems, modernization, and reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
Related experience includes DCS or automation software development and documentation.
Ability to work independently and with customers, management, and sales teams.
Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical automation problems.
Experience with standard programming practices for reliable software logic.

Responsibilities

Configure DCS and PLC programs, including SIS and alarm management.
Participate in designing, configuring, testing, debugging and documenting automation applications.
Apply standard programming practices to ensure robust software.
Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors for problem diagnosis and integration.
Develop innovative automation solutions to improve plant performance and reliability.
Plan and execute software upgrade releases and interface development.
