Job summary

Switch Reno, NV is seeking a DCO Facilities Technician III to join our mission-critical data center team. You will act as a first responder to alarms and lead advanced troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems in a 24/7 environment.

The role requires strong technical expertise, safety discipline, and the ability to mentor Technician I and II while supporting preventive maintenance, commissioning, and vendor oversight.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6+ years in facilities electrical/mechanical environments with 4+ years in relevant systems.
  • Technical trade school training in mechanical, electrical, or related field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS, and cooling systems such as CRAC/CRAH.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a first responder to critical infrastructure alarms and perform advanced troubleshooting.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power and cooling infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and environmental control systems (Modbus, cabling).
  • Replace and maintain UPS batteries, generator batteries, and AHU batteries.
  • Oversee vendor work and ensure Switch safety standards are met.
  • Complete work orders in CMMS and assist with procedures and documentation.
  • Conduct formal training sessions and mentor Technician I/II.
  • Participate in site committees and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Role

DCO Facilities Technician IIIThis role serves as a senior technician within Data Center Operations supporting mission critical electrical and mechanical systems You act as a first responder to infrastructure alarms perform advanced troubleshooting and mentor Technician I and II team members The role requires strong technical expertise disciplined safety practices and the ability to operate effectively in a 247365 environment

What Youll Do

Act as a first responder to critical infrastructure alarms including UPS generators fluid coolers pumps temperature alerts and related systems Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power and cooling infrastructure Troubleshoot electrical mechanical and environmental control systems including Modbus and structured cabling connections Replace and maintain UPS batteries generator batteries and air handling unit batteries Utilize diagnostic tools such as thermal imaging equipment to assess system performance Support Factory Acceptance Testing and commissioning activities when assigned Oversee vendor and contractor work to ensure compliance with Switch standards and safety policies Complete work orders accurately and on time within the CMMS Participate in development and improvement of operational procedures and documentation Conduct formal training sessions and mentor Technician I and II team members Participate in site committees and continuous improvement initiatives

What Were Looking For

Advanced working knowledge of mission critical electrical and mechanical systems Ability to respond calmly and decisively to infrastructure events Strong troubleshooting skills across power and cooling systems Commitment to safety compliance and disciplined operational practices Clear communication and ability to mentor less experienced technicians Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights weekends and holidays

What Youll Bring

6 or more years of experience in facilities electrical mechanical or electronics environments including at least 4 years in mechanical or electrical systems Technical trade school training in mechanical electrical or related field preferred High school diploma or equivalent required Ability to interpret wiring diagrams schematics and technical drawings Advanced familiarity with systems including generators transformers switchgear UPS systems ATS or STS units PDUs CRAC or CRAH units pumps cooling systems and fire suppression systems Required certifications OSHA 10 NFPA 70E Arc Flash First Aid or CPR and other site specific safety training within designated timeframes Additional technical certifications such as HVAC or EPA preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders and working near live equipment
