Job summary

Switch is seeking a DCO Facilities Technician II to operate and maintain mission critical electrical and mechanical systems in data centers. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to alarms, and assist vendors during maintenance and expansion projects.

The role demands hands-on technical capability, strict safety practices, and the ability to thrive in a 24/7/365 environment while upholding Switch safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in facilities electrical/mechanical environments including at least 2 years in relevant systems
  • Technical trade school training in mechanical or electrical fields preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical power and cooling systems
  • Respond to infrastructure alarms including temperature, UPS, battery, fluid, cooler and pump alerts
  • Support vendors and contractors during maintenance and expansion projects
  • Complete work orders accurately and on time within the CMMS
  • Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions
  • Follow Switch safety policies and procedures including OSHA and NFPA requirements
  • Assist in development and updates of operational procedures and documentation
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and environmental wiring systems (CAT5/CAT6/Modbus)
  • Use diagnostic tools like thermal imaging to assess system performance
  • Ensure customer compliance with Switch Acceptable Use Policy
  • Participate in training and technical development activities

The Role DCO Facilities Technician II

This role supports the operation and maintenance of mission critical electrical and mechanical systems within Switch data centers You perform preventive maintenance respond to infrastructure alarms and support vendors during maintenance and expansion activities The role requires hands on technical capability disciplined safety practices and the ability to operate effectively in a 247365 environment

What Youll Do
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical power and cooling systems
  • Respond to infrastructure alarms including high temperature UPS battery fluid cooler and pump system alerts
  • Support vendors and contractors during maintenance and expansion projects
  • Complete work orders accurately and on time within the CMMS
  • Inspect buildings grounds and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions
  • Follow Switch safety policies and procedures including OSHA and NFPA requirements
  • Assist in development and updates of operational procedures and documentation

What Were Looking For
  • Solid working knowledge of mission critical electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to follow procedures and respond calmly to alarms and operational events
  • Strong attention to safety and compliance standards
  • Clear communication with team members vendors and leadership
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights weekends and holidays
What Youll Bring
  • 4 or more years of experience in facilities mechanical electrical or electronics environments including at least 2 years in mechanical or electrical systems
  • Technical trade school training in mechanical electrical or related field preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams schematics and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with systems including generators transformers switchgear UPS systems ATS or STS units PDUs CRAC units pumps and fire suppression systems
  • Required certifications OSHA 10 NFPA 70E Arc Flash First Aid or CPR and other site specific safety training within designated timeframes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic computer systems
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders and working near live equipment
