Job summary

Switch in Las Vegas is seeking a DCO Facilities Technician III to join Data Center Operations. This senior role supports mission critical electrical and mechanical systems, acts as a first responder to alarms, and mentors junior technicians in a 24/7 environment.

You will troubleshoot, perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power and cooling infrastructure, replace UPS and generator batteries, and help with testing, commissioning, and safety.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in facilities electrical, mechanical, or electronics environments, including 4+ years in relevant systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school preferred.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Respond as first responder to critical infrastructure alarms and perform advanced troubleshooting.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power and cooling infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and environmental control systems including Modbus and cabling.
• Replace batteries for UPS, generators, and air handling units.
• Assist in testing and commissioning activities as needed.
• Oversee vendor and contractor work to ensure safety standards.

The Role

DCO Facilities Technician III This role serves as a senior technician within Data Center Operations supporting mission critical electrical and mechanical systems You act as a first responder to infrastructure alarms perform advanced troubleshooting and mentor Technician I and II team members The role requires strong technical expertise disciplined safety practices and the ability to operate effectively in a 247365 environment

What You'll Do

• Act as a first responder to critical infrastructure alarms including UPS generators fluid coolers pumps temperature alerts and related systems
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power and cooling infrastructure
• Troubleshoot electrical mechanical and environmental control systems including Modbus and structured cabling connections
• Replace and maintain UPS batteries generator batteries and air handling unit batteries
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as thermal imaging equipment to assess system performance
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing and commissioning activities when assigned
• Oversee vendor and contractor work to ensure compliance with Switch standards and safety policies
• Complete work orders accurately and on time within the CMMS
• Participate in development and improvement of operational procedures and documentation
• Conduct formal training sessions and mentor Technician I and II team members
• Participate in site committees and continuous improvement initiatives

• Advanced working knowledge of mission critical electrical and mechanical systems
• Ability to respond calmly and decisively to infrastructure events
• Strong troubleshooting skills across power and cooling systems
• Commitment to safety compliance and disciplined operational practices
• Clear communication and ability to mentor less experienced technicians
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights weekends and holidays

What Youll Bring

• 6 or more years of experience in facilities electrical mechanical or electronics environments including at least 4 years in mechanical or electrical systems
• Technical trade school training in mechanical electrical or related field preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams schematics and technical drawings
• Advanced familiarity with systems including generators transformers switchgear UPS systems ATS or STS units PDUs CRAC or CRAH units pumps cooling systems and fire suppression systems
• Required certifications OSHA 10 NFPA 70E Arc Flash First Aid or CPR and other site specific safety training within designated timeframes
• Additional technical certifications such as HVAC or EPA preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders and working near live equipment
