Position Purpose

The Transportation Supervisor will lead an hourly team and influence the entire distribution team to complete the work required to run the distribution center in an efficient, safe, and productive manner. The supervisor will be responsible for managing team members, ensuring prompt, efficient, and accurate handling of merchandise, and developing team goals. Responsibilities include hiring, evaluating, developing, disciplining, and terminating hourly associates. The supervisor manages 20 to 30 hourly associates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Managing Process (45%): Execute transportation functions within budgetary goals, manage fleet and carrier execution, plan store delivery routes, and partner with outbound operations. Responsible for yard management, customer service, analyzing service results, and improving efficiencies.
2. Coaching / Developing Associates (25%): Guide daily operations, monitor productivity, safety, and quality, train and evaluate associates, and handle HR functions like hiring and discipline.
3. Drive Results (15%): Ensure on-time service, optimize trailer utilization, review performance metrics, and manage transportation projects.
4. Business Planning (15%): Coordinate transportation plans, monitor KPIs, and ensure alignment with business goals. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision & Travel

• Reports to the Operations Manager
• Supervises 20-30 hourly associates
• Overnight travel less than 10%

Physical & Working Conditions

• Requires physical activity such as walking, standing, lifting, etc.
• Work environment includes temperature extremes, machinery, noise, and fumes.

Qualifications

• Minimum: 18+ years old, legally permitted to work in the US, high school diploma or GED, 2 years of work experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor's in Supply Chain or related, supply chain and warehouse management experience, 3+ years supervisory experience, ability to relocate, flexible shifts.
