Job summary

East Penn Manufacturing Company, Inc. in Temple, TX is seeking an experienced technician to support automated processes across facilities. You will assist in modifications, upgrades, troubleshooting, and basic PLC programming, ensuring high quality and safety practices.

You will work with PLCs, control networks, and electrical schematics, learn new technologies, document all work, and train others. This on-site role requires good communication and dedication to reliability and safety.

Qualifications

  • An understanding in the use of PLC programming instructions.
  • Basic understanding of numbering systems.
  • Knowledge of indirect addressing, indexed addressing, block transfers.
  • Understanding of DH+, DH485, RIO, Ethernet, DeviceNet and ControlNet.
  • Ability to navigate Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledge of file management on the network for archiving.
  • Knowledge of drivers for PC-to-PLC communication.
  • Ability to read, understand and draw electrical schematics.
  • Basic understanding of variable frequency drives.
  • Knowledge of electrical test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, megger).
  • Willing to learn new technologies and train others.
  • Troubleshooting to diagnose machine breakdowns.
  • Plan, schedule, and perform tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain records (Somax work orders and modification forms).
  • Understand NEC and OSHA safety policies.
  • Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Qualifications

An understanding in the use of PLC programming instructions.-

A basic understanding of numbering systems.

Basic knowledge of indirect addressing, indexed addressing, block transfer read and block transfer writes.

Basic understanding of networks communications, including but not limited to DH+, DH485, RIO, Ethernet, DeviceNet and ControlNet.

Ability to navigate windows operating systems.

Knowledge of file management on the network for archiving purposes.

Knowledge of necessary drivers needed for PC to PLC communication.

Ability to read, understand and draw electrical schematics.

A basic understanding of the theory and operation of variable frequency drives.

Basic knowledge on the proper use of electrical test equipment to include but not limited to multimeter, amprobe, oscilloscope and megger.

An understanding of basic electronics for troubleshooting purposes.

Capable and willing to learn new technologies.

Capable and willing to assist and train others.

Troubleshooting skills to efficiently diagnose and repair machine breakdowns.

Ability to plan, schedule, and perform job tasks with minimal supervision.

Capable and willing to maintain accurate record keeping to include but not limited to Somax work orders and machine modification forms.

Perform thorough, high quality, professional work at all times.

Understanding of NEC, OSHA regulations and all company safety policies.

Good communication skills.
