Position Summary:
Under limited supervision, this position manages multiple departments to complete the accurate flow of product out of the Distribution Center. Proper execution of all processes includes, but are not limited to, meeting/exceeding department KPIs for performance and accuracy, and working with other departments to complete daily workload requirements. The manager oversees the selection and packing of all Wholesale Division orders and third shift replenishment Team. This position reports to the General Manager
This position is budgeted at $72,000
Primary Responsibilities:
- Wholesale Pick/Pack – Responsible for the timely and accurate product flow out of the DC through all outbound processes, including but not limited to, picking, packing, shipping, and hazmat compliance.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate product flow into the Distribution Center through inbound processes, including but not limited to, put away and replenishment.
- Create, implement and manage the operational environment for put away and replenishment through technology and available reporting.
- Productivity Standards & Reporting – Responsible for establishing productive goals in picking, packing, put away and replenishment relative to KPI’s established in annual budgets and in line with continuous improvement.
- Create, implement and establish daily reporting tools and accountability metric, including SOPs, to drive improvements in productivity and training standards across all areas of production.
- All Areas – Create, meet, and exceed department goals for growth and KPIs (safety, accuracy, productivity, etc.)
- Hire, train, coach, review and discipline direct reports on important information about company-based policies, procedures, and guidelines as well as additional business-related issues. Create and maintain an environment that is motivational and fosters growth. 1-1 based communication to occur bi-monthly to ensure open dialogue between direct reports and management.
- Create and maintain an environment that exemplifies West Marine’s Mission Statement and Core Values including sustainability initiatives.
- Additional Job Functions – Performs related duties as required.
Education, Experience & Skills:- Minimum 3 years experience of relevant experience required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- High School Diploma required. BS/BA a plus
- Previous experience managing crew members in a warehouse or similar environment, including multiple areas of responsibility concurrently.
- Proven track record of managing an inventory of more than $20MM, receipts of $110MM and controlling the shrink to less than .50% of total inventory dollars
- Proven track record of producing results with engineered standards
- Strong math and communication skills with the ability to investigate and problem solve
- Strong detail orientation and organizational skills a must
- Microsoft Office Suite and AS400/JDA experience a must
- Must be able to work a standard workday including weekends as set by West Marine. Must be able to lift 65 pounds and 25 pounds to shoulder height. While performing duties of the job, crewmember is occasionally required to operate heavy equipment, stand; walk; sit; use hand to finger keyboard and calculator; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
