Job summary

FleetPride is seeking a Safety Specialist to uphold OSHA compliance, lead safety training, and drive a proactive safety culture at our Alabama facility. You will conduct inspections, investigate incidents, and manage safety documentation with a focus on preventing injuries.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field and at least 2 years of EHS experience in a warehouse or distribution setting. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Business, Risk Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Supply Chain EHS or related field.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safety regulations.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • The DC Safety Specialist conducts inspections, supports accident investigations, and helps define the safety culture of the organization.
  • Ensures safety training records and accident reports are completed and filed.
  • Leads and facilitates safety training to maintain a compliant workplace.
  • Maintains OSHA compliance and enforces safety policies across the facility.
  • Acts as Emergency Response leader for incidents such as chemical spills or serious injuries.
  • Coordinates regulatory visits (OSHA, Fire Marshal) and prepares related documentation.
  • Builds JHA and JSA programs and chairs the site Safety Committee.
  • Assists in risk assessments and development of standard work.

The Safety Specialist, reporting to Manager, EHS & Compliance, works with DC leadership, and employees to support and enforce policies that protect employees and keep the work environment safe and compliant. The DC Safety Specialist conducts inspections, supports accident investigations, owns, and facilitates safety training, and helps define the safety culture of the organization. Safety Specialists also ensure that safety-related training records, accident reports and other documents are completed and filed appropriately. The successful candidate will be a driven, solutions based, self-starter. They will be the driving force to ensure the facility is maintained in accordance with OSHA requirements, as well as supporting and enforcing policies that ensure a safe and compliant workplace.

Assist in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the workplace to ensure compliance with Company Safety policies to provide a safe and secure workplace for employees, visitors, vendors, and guests.

Manage multiple, complex, and essential safety projects from conception to implementation.

Perform work task Risk Assessments and develop safety standard work in conjunction with associates.

Complete ergonomic assessments on job tasks, incorporating findings into applicable Standard Work.

Creates, supports, and implements strategies to establish and improve safety compliance.

Coordinate with any outside emergency agency, Fire, Police, Sheriff, OSHA, etc. Develops, evaluates and recommends process and equipment changes and improvements to maximize safety and improve environmental impacts of operations.

Act as Emergency Response leader in the case of chemical spills, fire, serious injuries and other unplanned emergency events.

Act as the point of contact and lead the efforts for any regulatory visits such as OSHA, Fire Marshal etc..

Evaluate jobs and build out JHA and JSA programs. Chair the site Safety Committee.

Atmospheric/Environmental Conditions The performance of this position will require exposure to the warehouse areas where certain areas may require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes and safety glasses. The primary environment is characterized by non-climate-controlled warehouse work. Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Business, Risk Management, or a two-year University degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management (or related field), and/or equivalent work experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience in Supply Chain EHS Required.

Knowledge of principles of accident prevention, safety, OSHA requirements Required.

Knowledge of ergonomic fundamentals preferred.

Computer Skills

Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.

Certifications/Licenses

OSHA 30 preferred

AED & CPR Certified Preferred
