Job summary

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. is seeking a Monday–Friday AM Anchor based at the Nexstar Bureau in Washington DC. The ideal candidate will lead political coverage and drive conversations with guests across broadcast and digital platforms.

The role requires a deep background in political reporting, ability to localize national content, and a track record of booking impactful guests. Strong journalistic standards and collaboration with various DC entities are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Fluency in English.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Minimum five years’ experience in news reporting or anchoring, with at least 2 years in a large market.

Responsibilities

Rigorusly prepares for interviews by researching guests and topics.
Book guests and plan segments to drive the news cycle.
Lead coverage of political stories and drive dynamic conversation with guests.
Write and edit content for newscasts as needed.
Participate in daily editorial meetings.
Create content for digital platforms, including a daily live CTV program.
Localize national content for regional audience.
Ensure content meets journalistic standards of integrity and fairness.
Work with Nexstar Washington DC Bureau and partners to identify compelling content.
