Job summary

InterAgency, Inc. in Bethesda, MD is seeking a full-time Project Manager II to support the Commercial Permitting team on large-scale development projects in the DC metro area.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized, with 5–7 years of permitting and regulatory experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. This hybrid role offers three in-office days and two remote days per week.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• 5–7 years of permitting, construction administration, regulatory coordination, or related project management experience.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans and identify permitting requirements and risks.
• Proven experience communicating and resolving permitting issues with AHJs, municipal agencies, and other regulators.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client deliverables with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit permit applications to DC regulatory agencies and AHJs.
• Lead complex permitting assignments with knowledge of AHJ requirements and processes.
• Coordinate with agency officials to confirm requirements and address comments or revisions.
• Manage day-to-day client and agency communications, meetings, and permitting updates.
• Oversee permit applications through all review stages, maintaining schedules and deliverables.
• Review drawings to identify permitting requirements, risks, and deficiencies.
• Provide QA/QC reviews of permit documents and guidance to junior PMs.
• Identify permitting risks and schedule impacts and develop mitigation strategies with Senior PMs.
• Plan and manage workload across projects of varying size and complexity.
• Maintain strong client relationships and deliver timely, professional service.
• Prepare project reports, status updates, and presentation materials.
• Contribute to team planning and project strategy.
