Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking an Application Tester to support Java/.NET/MQ in a federal program in Washington, DC. Hybrid schedule: on-site in Washington, DC three days per week with two days remote.

The role focuses on functional, regression, load, and system testing, developing automated and manual scripts, and validating data with SQL, while coordinating SDLC activities for the AFMS program and maintaining traceability of defects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software testing experience across web-based apps.
• Experience with manual and automated test scripts and plans.
• Ability to analyze risk and assess system impact.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem solving and defects tracking.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and triage issues.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop functional test plans for all phases of testing.
• Design, execute, and maintain automated and manual test scripts.
• Generate test data and perform data validation.
• Execute regression, functional, load, and system testing.
• Verify results and produce test summaries and defect reports.
• Identify defects and requirement discrepancies.
• Create defect change requests and report discrepancies.
• Determine test objectives and standards by reviewing requirements.
• Conduct application testing of web-based systems.
• Capture and document test artifacts and record defects.
• Access and query databases using MS Access or SQL to validate results.
• Report test outcomes by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and displaying data.
• Resolve testing problems by adjusting methods and updating plans.
• Understand business requirements and current system functionality.
• Participate in design reviews, analysis walkthroughs, and peer reviews.
• Use Rational ClearQuest and Rational ClearCase for change and defect management.
