The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to perform the fast-paced work required to run the distribution center efficiently, safely, and productively. This role manages responsibilities for team members under supervision, ensuring prompt, efficient, and accurate handling of merchandise, and developing team goals. Responsibilities include hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, and termination of hourly associates, with management oversight for 20 to 30 associates.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing Process (45%): Ensures operational procedures are followed effectively, recommends changes, evaluates work methods, and eliminates inefficiencies.
• Coaching and Developing Associates (25%): Guides daily operations, monitors productivity, safety, service, and quality; conducts evaluations; provides coaching and counseling; handles hiring, discipline, and terminations; investigates operational errors.
• Drives Results (15%): Maintains inventory accuracy, reviews reports, and identifies improvements in productivity, accuracy, quality, and expenses.
• Business Planning (15%): Coordinates operations to meet performance targets, reviews reports, and plans staffing needs.
• Additional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Reporting and Supervision

This position reports to the Operations Manager and supervises 20-30 hourly associates, including planning, monitoring, and reviewing work activities, and making recommendations on staffing and performance management.

Travel and Physical Requirements

• Overnight travel less than 10%.
• Requires physical exertion such as walking, standing, lifting, and climbing, sometimes with heavy or awkward materials.

Working Conditions

Primarily located indoors in a comfortable environment, with infrequent unpleasant conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the U.S.
• Flexibility for various shifts and ability to relocate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, experience with Microsoft Office and Warehouse Management Systems, 3+ years supervisory experience.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; no additional education needed. Minimum 2 years of work experience; no additional experience or leadership experience required.
