Lutheran Social Services of WI & Upper MI seeks a DBT Therapist-In-Training to provide assessments, diagnoses, and evidence-based DBT services under supervision in a supportive, trauma-informed setting.

You will deliver individual, family, and group therapy, complete documentation, and collaborate with the treatment team while building clinical skills in a compassionate environment within Wisconsin.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a behavioral health field or related discipline.
  • Eligibility for state licensure training (e.g., APSW, LPC-IT, or MFT-IT).
  • Practicum experience in behavioral health services required.
  • DBT training preferred or willingness to complete training.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, couples, and group psychotherapy under supervision.
  • Deliver DBT-focused therapy and skills training (mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness).
  • Conduct assessments, develop diagnoses, and create collaborative treatment plans.
  • Provide psychoeducation and skill-building services.
  • Participate in treatment/recovery team meetings and supervision.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation and client records.
  • Deliver trauma-informed, person-centered care aligned with agency standards.

About the Role

Under the direction of a Licensed Therapist or Licensed Psychologist, this role provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders, with a strong emphasis on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, family, couples, and group psychotherapy services.
  • Facilitate DBT-focused individual and group therapy, including skills training in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
