Job summary

Taher, Inc. is seeking a Chef for a school lunch program in Jackson, Michigan. The role is a Monday–Friday daytime position leading a team to ensure superior service and high-quality meals.

Essential duties include HACCP-based inventory control, cost management, menu planning, and staff training. The company offers competitive benefits and opportunities for advancement in a family-owned environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in culinary arts or at least 3 years of previous experience in a similar position.
• Exemplary customer service skills.
• Previous purchasing and experience controlling food cost.
• Able to manage, train, and motivate a team.
• Ability to perform in a fast paced environment.
• Previous catering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring USDA regulations are followed.
• Ensuring meals meet quality standards and are prepared on time.
• Managing ordering, receiving, storing and inventory control following HACCP standards.
• Controlling waste and managing cost and performance to budget.
• Maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe kitchen environment.
• Establish monthly food and labor cost goals and conduct cost analyses.
• Follow standardized recipes, write menus, and monitor costs.
• Assist in managing and training team members.
• Lead all catering functions as needed.
