Job summary

Shields Health Solutions is seeking a Per diem Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Patient Care Assistant to provide direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision. The role supports admissions, prep, and discharge, patient transport, vitals, and activities of daily living in a fast-paced ASC setting.

Qualifications

• CNA/PCT/MA training preferred or completed.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience in ASC/Outpatient setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with admitting, preparing, and discharging patients.
• Escort patients to and from preop, postop, and discharge areas.
• Record vital signs, height, weight, and pain assessments.
• Assist with activities of daily living and positioning.
• Stock supplies and maintain clean, ready patient care areas.
• Support patient transfers using proper body mechanics.
• Observe patients and report changes to the RN promptly.
• Assist with specimen transport and equipment cleaning.
• Maintain a clean, safe patient care environment.
• Restock supplies and notify staff when inventory is low.
• Provide compassionate care while protecting privacy and confidentiality.
• Document care activities in the EHR accurately.
