Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc. is seeking a Server for the Market Grille in a fast-paced store dining environment. You will greet guests, take orders, serve meals and beverages, and help ensure a great dining experience from start to finish.

The role emphasizes friendly, attentive service, knowledge of the menu and bar offerings where applicable, and teamwork with store staff to maintain guest satisfaction. Prior food service experience is valued.

Qualifications

• No formal education required; 0–2 years of related work experience preferred.
• Prior customer service or food service experience desirable.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests with a warm welcome and learn their names.
• Present menus and answer questions about items; make recommendations.
• Take food and beverage orders and enter them into the system for kitchen staff.
• Serve food and drinks; assist with specialty dishes as needed.
• Prepare hot, cold and mixed drinks; chill wine as required.
• Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction and address issues.
• Verify guest IDs to enforce alcohol age requirements.
• Prepare itemized checks and process payments; report tips.
• Maintain clean tables and service areas; stock supplies.
