Job summary

S.P. Richards Company is seeking a Daytime Driver to safely deliver and retrieve office products on day routes from the Charlotte distribution center in Concord, NC.

A valid Class A CDL with HazMat endorsement and compliance with DOT/FMCSA rules are required, along with strong customer service. This full-time role involves pre/post-trip inspections, maintaining PODs and Hours-of-Service records via ELD, lifting up to 70 lbs, and operating in loud warehouse and road conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with HazMat endorsement is required.
• Must meet DOT/FMCSA safety and regulatory standards.
• Minimum one year verifiable CDL delivery experience within the past three years.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and move heavier loads (1,000+ lbs.).
• Must reside within 60 miles of the distribution center.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT-mandated pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle.
• Safely drive and deliver products on established day routes, meeting scheduled delivery and pickup times.
• Verify orders, maintain accurate Proof of Delivery (POD), and accurately maintain Hours-of-Service records using the company's Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and other mobile technology.
• Safely transport, secure, document, and deliver hazardous materials in compliance with DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR), company policies, and customer requirements.
• Load/unload products with pallet jacks, dollies, or by hand.
• Retrieve returns and complete paperwork accurately.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform light maintenance.
• Deliver professional, courteous service and uphold company safety standards.

Summary

Responsible for the safe and timely delivery and retrieval of office products to S.P. Richards customers during scheduled day routes. This position requires a valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement and requires adherence to DOT, FMCSA, hazardous materials handling, and company safety standards while providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with active HAZMAT endorsement required.
• Must maintain all required HAZMAT eligibility, including TSA security threat assessment requirements, endorsement renewal, and any company-required hazardous materials training.
• Minimum one (1) year of verifiable Class A CDL commercial driving experience within the past three (3) years.
• MVR: No more than 2 violations in the last 3 years.
• No DUI/DWI in the last 5 years.
• No disqualifying serious traffic violations as defined by FMCSA or company insurance requirements.
• Must reside within 60 miles of the distribution center.
• Must communicate in English (read, write, and speak) per FMCSA requirements.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. and move heavier loads (1,000+ lbs.) with equipment.
• Professionalism and reliable reporting required.
• Demonstrated stable work history preferred.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior CDL Class A delivery experience and familiarity with HAZMAT documentation, ELDs, tablets, Roadnet, or similar routing systems preferred.

Route schedule with frequent customer interaction and independent work required. Work is performed in loud environments with exposure to warehouse, roadway, dock, and customer delivery conditions. Role may include handling or transporting HAZMAT-regulated materials in accordance with applicable safety requirements.

Physical Demands

Driver unloads product at customer locations using pallet jacks, dollies, and manual handling as required. Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. and move heavier loads using appropriate equipment while following safe work practices.
