Job summary

GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF NORTHEAST IOWA, INC. Waterloo, Iowa is seeking a Full-time Day HAB Direct Support Professional to support program participants within the organization’s mission and values.

You will assist with training, supervising, advising, and monitoring activities as outlined in each participant's plan. Responsibilities include helping participants set goals, coordinating services, driving to appointments, maintaining documentation, and providing crisis intervention when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CPR/First Aid and Medication Management certification within 6 months of starting employment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively instruct persons with disabilities.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance.
• Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm for the agency's mission.

Responsibilities

• Assists program participants with developing strategies, making informed choices, and following through on responsibilities.
• Encourages program participants to achieve goals and desired outcomes by assisting with programming derived from preferences, needs, interests, and strengths.
• Provides information about community resources and helps with self-advocacy.
• Drives participants to appointments, events, stores, and activities as needed.
• Maintains accurate documentation on program participants and uses appropriate guidelines and systems.
• Provides crisis intervention as needed and communicates with support systems.
