Job summary

Waukee Community School District is hiring a Day Custodian for WHS in Waukee, IA. The role supports daily building operations, cleaning, and upkeep in a high school setting. Immediate starting date with full-time hours and benefits.

The position requires a high school diploma (preferred) and custodial experience. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff, and be able to lift and work in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Custodial experience: 0-2 years required, 3-5 years preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, building administrators, co-workers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned building daily expectations, including vacuuming, trash removal, stocking supplies, sweeping, mopping, floor cleaning, restrooms, and lunch room cleanup.
• Clean up spills throughout the building.
• Verify evening schedule and prints for night staff.
• Maintain safe walkways using snow shovel, snow blower, and ice melt in winter.
• Assist with unlock doors, minor equipment repair, and moving materials per work orders.
• Assist in training new custodial employees
• Complete monthly task list including preventative maintenance like fire extinguishers and floor scrubbing machines.
