Job summary

Johnson College seeks a part-time Carpentry & Cabinetmaking Lab Assistant to teach daytime classes for the fall 2026 semester. The candidate should have experience in framing, window/door installation, drywall prep, trim, and finished flooring. The role requires organizing syllabi, maintaining a safe lab, and timely record-keeping.

Flexibility to morning classes is a plus. The ideal candidate will speak confidently before small groups, recruit into skilled trades, and hold an Associate's degree

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and/or 4-5 years of technical experience.
• Experience in floor framing, wall framing, ceiling framing, window/door installation, drywall prep and installation, spackling, priming and paint.

Responsibilities

• Organize and deliver class syllabi and objectives clearly.
• Maintain an organized and safe lab; ensure tools and equipment are prepared for use.
• Keep accurate records of student performance and submit academic records on time.
• Provide students with timely feedback.
