Job summary

Sweeping Corporation of America in Dayton, OH is hiring a Street Sweeper on the 1st shift to join our public-safety focused team. You will operate a street sweeper on assigned routes, perform pre/post inspections, and maintain logs and reports in compliance with company procedures.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED, at least 1 year of DOT driving experience, and a valid CDL-B with DOT Medical Card.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED.
• Experience: 1 year DOT driving experience – waste & recycling services preferred.
• License: CDL-B & DOT Medical Card.
• Age: Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Compliance: Must maintain an acceptable driving record and pass MVR, background, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Inspection: Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment in accordance with company standards.
• Execution: Review assigned routes prior to departure and complete jobs within the allotted timeframe with quality.
• Equipment Operation: Operate equipment safely and in compliance with traffic laws and site protocols.
• Material Handling: Handle materials safely and dispose as required.
• Reporting: Report equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, or injuries promptly to management.
• Professional Communication: Maintain a professional attitude and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
• Compliance & Documentation: Complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
• Adaptability & Problem Solving: Respond to changes and solve issues timely.
• Attendance: Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

• Safety & Inspection: Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipmentin accordance withcompany standards. Ensure all safety features are operational before beginningroute.
• Execution: Review assigned routes thoroughly prior to departure. Be proactive in asking clarifying questions if the route or expectations are unclear. Complete assigned jobs within the allottedtimeframewhilemaintainingexpected quality and attention to detail.
• Equipment Operation: Operateequipment safely and efficiently at all times, following all traffic laws, company safety procedures, and site-specific protocols. Exerciseadditionalcaution during inclement weather or challenging site conditions.
• Material Handling: Handle materials safely and securely; Apply correct procedures for material types and disposal sites.
• Reporting: Report any equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, or injuries within 30 minutes or as soonas safelypossible. Immediately escalate opportunities, work issues, or safety concerns to management.
• Professional Communication: Maintaina professional attitude and appearance whilerepresentingthe company on job sites or in public areas. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients when needed.
• Compliance & Documentation: Accurately complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
• Adaptability & Problem Solving: Respond appropriately to changes and challenges;identifyand solveissues timely.
• Regular & Predictable Attendance: The ability to consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, with minimal unexcused absences. This includes being present and prepared to work throughout assigned shifts, and reliably adhering to start times, breaks, and end times.
