Job summary

Prime Healthcare's St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City seeks a Unit Secretary to support the Perinatal Unit and Adult Geriatric Psych. You will manage records, transcribe orders when needed, and coordinate between staff, physicians, and patients on 12-hour day shifts.

This full-time role offers comprehensive benefits, health/dental/vision, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement, with weekend rotation and 7am-7pm schedule; experience with medical terminology and BLS is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience required for all new hires.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Working knowledge of behavioral health care preferred.
• Two years of computer usage experience (word processing, databases, spreadsheets).

Responsibilities

• Provide indirect patient care by assisting with departmental organization, communication needs, and coordination between staff, physicians, and patients.
• Enter and transcribe physician orders (in the absence of CPOE) with proper nursing notation and signature.
• Prepare, compile, and maintain patient records, charts, logbook entries, and documentation for the Perinatal Unit.
• Order supplies and forms for the unit, and assist nursing staff with restocking patient rooms after transfers or discharges.
• Accurately enter data into hospital computer systems and the QS Electronic Medical Record system while supporting nursing staff with indirect care tasks.
