Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Unit Secretary at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. The role provides indirect patient care by managing communications, organizing records, and transcribing orders when needed.

You will support the Perinatal Unit and coordinate with physicians and staff to ensure accurate charts and documentation. The position requires a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and a current BLS certificate; experience with medical terminology and hospital systems is

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Current BLS certification upon hire.
• Two years computer experience preferred (word processing, spreadsheets).
• Experience with hospital information systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of Behavioral Health care context preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide indirect patient care by coordinating unit communications and records.
• Enter and transcribe physician orders when needed, with proper nursing notation.
• Prepare and maintain patient records, charts, and logs for the Perinatal Unit.
• Order supplies and restock rooms after transfers or discharges.
• Support nursing staff with non-clinical tasks and data entry in EMSRN.
