Job summary

Newark Board of Education is seeking a Senior Custodian Day at McKinley Elementary School to supervise custodial staff and oversee cleaning and maintenance of facilities. The role requires leadership in building operations and adherence to safety standards.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, 2 years in custodial work with supervisory experience, a Black Seal Boiler Operator License, and a valid NJ driver’s license if needed for duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of custodial/maintenance experience with supervisory duties.
• Black Seal Boiler Operator License (high or low pressure) issued by NJDOL.
• Driver's license required only if vehicle operation is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, analyzes, and determines cleaning work to be done and materials needed.
• Establishes, maintains, and develops work plans for subordinates.
• Supervises cleaning, maintenance, and care of buildings and grounds.
• Oversees floor care, furniture cleaning, and cleaning agents application.
• Maintains records of personnel, equipment, materials, and time spent.
• Reports necessary repairs to the authorities.
