Job summary

Southeastern Regional Technical High School in Easton, MA is seeking a full-time Custodian for the day shift, Monday through Friday 5:30 AM–2:00 PM. The role focuses on keeping facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained to support student learning.

Responsibilities include building cleaning, snow and ice management, security checks, minor repairs, and adherence to district safety procedures. Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Reliability in attendance and maturity; or/Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Keeps buildings and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Shovels, plows, and sands walkways, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
• Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are closed or open as appropriate and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
• Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture as needed.
• Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.
• Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily as needed.
• Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
• Keeps the building and grounds free from rubbish.
• Makes minor building repairs.
• Reports major repairs promptly to the Supervisor.
• Assumes responsibility before leaving, that all doors and windows are secure, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
• Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
• Moves furniture or equipment within the buildings as required for various activities and as directed by Supervisor.
• Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
• All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or the Supervisor of Custodians.
