Job summary

Advocate Health’s Centralized Pharmacy Service Center in the Midwest is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in medication preparation and distribution. The role involves selecting, labeling, and preparing medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances, while maintaining compliance with USP standards and internal policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements.
• Certification through CPhT or ExCPT within 18 months from start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks and inventory control.
• Screen calls and route using proper telephone etiquette.
• Perform nonsterile compounding following USP standards where applicable.
• Perform sterile IV admixture using aseptic technique where applicable.
• Ensure adherence to storage policies and documentation for medication handling.
• Record patient demographics and data entry for pharmacy system, insurance verification and labeling.
• May participate in training pharmacy technicians and extenders as applicable.
