Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to join our Outpatient team. The role involves day shifts with limited weekend commitments at our Kansas location, handling compounded and specialty medications and coordinating home delivery within the fulfillment area.

Responsibilities include preparing medications, maintaining inventory, operating pharmacy systems, ensuring compliance, and delivering courteous patient care.

Qualifications

• No previous experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• CPhT certification required by first board renewal (PTCB Kansas); per work state upon Hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medications for dispensing: Independently fills prescriptions with accuracy.
• Distributes medications and stock items: Independently dispenses prescriptions with accuracy.
• Maintains Pharmacy Inventory: Independently restocks shelves and automation with accuracy.
• Operates pharmacy computer systems: Independently enters prescription data and patient information into pharmacy systems with accuracy.
• Compliance and recordkeeping: Follows standard procedures for labeling, documentation, and handling of medications.
• Patient Care: Provides courteous, professional service when assisting patients, caregivers, and staff.
• Medication Safety: Practices medication safety basics such as barcode scanning and double-checking labels; promptly reports discrepancies to pharmacists or leaders.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
