Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: High School or equivalent.
• Training: Medical Terminology or Medical Assistant Training preferred.
• Special Skills: Communication, Customer Service, Computer Skills; knowledge of medical terminology.
• Licensure: Current BLS certification only required in mental health departments.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and maintains the patient chart from admission to discharge.
• Retrieves medications from the pneumatic tube system and delivers to the nurse.
• Answers the phone and uses proper phone etiquette; responds to call lights promptly.
• Acts as receptionist, greets patients, and directs visitors.
• Coordinates patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Orders necessary equipment and unit supplies; maintains inventory.
