Job summary

Allina Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support patient care by performing preliminary ocular testing, vision screening and patient preparation for exams and in-office surgery. You will help coordinate referrals, scheduling and postoperative visits while ensuring rooms are clean and stocked.

The role involves opening/closing patient rooms, training on contact lens insertion/removal, and scheduling peri-operative activities.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 0 to 2 years Ophthalmic experience preferred
• 0 to 2 years Knowledge of complete eye exam tests and procedures preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists in patient care by conducting preliminary ocular testing and vision screening
• Prepares patient for exam or in-office surgery and coordinates referrals and scheduling
• Assists with postoperative visits and maintains clean, stocked patient rooms
• Performs patient preparation, assessment and eye exam and documents in EMR
• Opens and closes patient rooms and trains on contact lens insertion/removal and peri-operative scheduling
• Schedules surgery and postoperative visits and provides patient education materials
