Job summary

General Die & Engineering, an ArtiFlex family company, seeks a Day Shift Mold Maker in Grand Rapids, MI to build, repair, modify and refurbish die cast and plastic injection molds in a low-volume, high-mix environment.

The role requires reading blueprints and CAD files, operating manual machines, and delivering high-quality tooling. We offer a cash bonus for tools and a tool purchase program, along with ESOP ownership and benefits.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Mold Maker or 5 years of equivalent experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
• Experience operating manual machines.
• Exceptional attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Build and repair all types, sizes, and shapes of die cast and plastic injection mold dies from blueprints or CAD files.
• Assemble and fit complex mold components (e.g., cooling channels, ejector systems).
• Perform preventative maintenance, and repair existing molds and tooling.
• Interface regularly with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Lead by example, help to strengthen our culture of employee safety, product quality, and on-time delivery. Ensuring all are treated with dignity and respect.
