Job summary

Westlake Chemical in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Day Shift Material Technician for DaVinci Roofscapes operations. You will train and relieve machine operators, assist with color changes and mold changeovers, and ensure accurate material handling on the production floor.

Responsibilities include reading work orders, weighing and recording material movements, operating a forklift or hoist, and supporting shipping and receiving tasks while maintaining clean, safe work areas.

Responsibilities

• Trains and relieves machine operators as needed
• Fills in for the Lead during their absence, including performing color changes, quality checks, and becoming familiar with mold changeovers
• Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved
• Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet
• Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators
• Dumps by hand materials such as colors or plastic, into machine hoppers or move product by hand onto scrap pallets
• Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products
• Reads spreadsheets to determine specific material requirements at changeovers
• Performs necessary maintenance and repair on some equipment used
• Responsible for performing the physical tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing of products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment
• Prepares and maintains records of product movement
• Pulls raw materials and finish product from various locations for manufacturing orders
