Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to install, repair and maintain machinery and equipment on-site in Houston. The role requires performing regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and building upkeep; a practical mind, mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities include assembling and maintaining systems, troubleshooting, following manuals and work orders, and ensuring a safe work environment.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or GED.
Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Preferred: Trade school or associate’s degree.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

Assemble, install and maintain mechanical systems, machinery and equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance.
Read, interpret and follow instructions and operation manuals and schematics.
Complete assigned work orders and communicate with the departments throughout the process.
Clean, repair and install equipment and parts as needed.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Perform general maintenance work on buildings as assigned.
