Job summary

Bongards’ Creameries is seeking a Day Shift Machine Operator at our Humboldt facility to operate cheese making equipment on a rotational basis with the goal of a permanent assigned position on one of the four production lines. Responsibilities include machine operation, basic equipment troubleshooting, availability for multi-line coverage, and other duties as assigned.

The team works a Day Shift 5:30am–6:00pm, Monday–Friday with some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong math, reading and writing skills.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and operate multiple machines.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs.
• Adaptable to cold and warm environments.
• Familiarity with GMP and safety guidelines.
• Experience with HMI or PIT is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow instructions from supervisor or lead.
• Operate multiple cheese making machines.
• Perform basic equipment troubleshooting.
• Maintain clean and safe work area.
• Monitor quality of boxes, pouches, labels.
• Unwrap and rework handling as needed.
• Assemble pallets and update systems.
• Work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary: Bongards’ Creameries is seeking a Day Shift Machine Operator at our Humboldt facility. This position is focused on operating cheese making equipment on a rotational basis with the goal of a permanent assigned position in one of the four production lines. Responsibilities include machine operation, basic equipment troubleshooting, availability for multi-line coverage, other duties as assigned.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Follow instructions (verbal, written) from lead, supervisor or designated person


• Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practice protocols for PPE, Production and Cleanliness (Handwashing, Uniform, Tools, etc)


• Learn to operate multiple machines (filler, casting line, wrapper, former, grinder, massman, bander, etc)


• Able to react quickly to resolve issues


• Monitor quality of boxes, pouches, labels and communicate to others


• Unwrap barrels, ensure cheese packages are made correctly


• Assemble pallets of dry ingredients according to the blend sheet and update ROSS system


• Open cheese packages and place in rework containers


• Cleaning and sanitizing of machines, all work areas after production is finished


• Keep work area neat, clean and organized


• Work in a safe, efficient manner in a fast paced team environment


• Other duties as assigned

Skills And Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent


• Excellent Math, Reading and Writing skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy


• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines


• Ability to work independently on assigned duties


• Adaptable to sudden changes and willing to learn new skills


• Knowledge of HMI screens, computers and PIT is a plus

• Adaptable to work in Cold and Warm environments


• Mechanical aptitude


• Must adhere to and follow all Safety, GMP, other quality guidelines


• Must report all food safety problems to immediate supervisor or designated replacement


• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
