Job summary

Sumiden Wire Products Corporation in Dayton, Texas is seeking dependable, safety‑minded Machine Operators to support production and quality on the strand processing lines. You will operate production equipment, read SOPs, and help meet safety and quality standards.

The role offers a day shift (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) with alternating weekends, temporary-to-hire or direct hire depending on experience. Pay ranges from $21.31 to $24.76 per hour with benefits after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred but not required.
• Licensed or ability to be licensed to operate forklift equipment.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to lift, pull, push as required by the position.

Responsibilities

• Operate production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Read SOPs related to the position and follow safety training.
• Complete daily/weekly/monthly 5S tasks.
• Perform QC tests of the strand (BS Test).
• Understand wire layering and strand routing for processes.
• Monitor machine and report problems to shift lead/supervisor.
• Handle wire and strand ends safely and perform adjustments as needed.

Job Summary

At Sumiden Wire Products Corporation, we produce and supply high‑quality prestressed concrete strand used in bridges, buildings and major structural projects across the country.

We are seeking dependable, safety‑focused Machine Operators who take pride in precision, quality and teamwork. In this role, you'll perform and support the operations and production of the plant, Machine Operators are responsible for safely and efficiently operating production equipment while meeting safety standards, quality and productivity.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

include the following:

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Other duties may be assigned.

• Reliable attendance
• Must be able to read and understand all SOP’s related to the position and meet all Safety Training Requirements.
• Must be able to wear all PPE (personal protective equipment) properly at all times.
• Must be able to complete all daily, weekly and monthly assigned and posted 5S tasks.
• Must be able to read micrometer and properly measure strand and wire diameter and calculate strand pitch.
• Must be able to operate hand and power tools.
• Must be able to zero the traverse and make the proper decisions on adjustment of the traverse and plates if needed.
• Must be able to properly cut the wire off the spools at the end of a run.
• Must be able to safely remove, strip and load spools using an overhead crane during strander spool changes.
• Must be able to monitor the machine while in production of wire and report any problems to the shift lead/supervisor.
• Must be able to repair a wire break at any location from the spool to the take up of the drawing machine.
• Must be able to understand the wire layering diagram and use it for the proper layering and routing of the wire through the strander.
• Must be able to perform all QC tests of the strand (BS Test).
• Must be able to properly fill out and understand a Strand IR form.
• Must be able to properly pull the strand off a full take up cut it and swap take ups.
• Must be able to properly thread the strand through all rollers on the rewinder and strander dancers.
• Must be able to handle wire and strand ends safely and understand the torsion of wire and strand and how it should be dealt with if encountered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience in drawing, rewinding and/or stranding preferred but not required.
• Licensed or ability to be licensed to operate forklift equipment.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to lift, pull, push as required by the position.

Safety and Training Requirements

• Complete all required safety training within the first 30 days of employment
• Participate in annual safety refresher training, thereafter, as required by company policy and regulatory standards
• Comply with all OSHA regulations, company safety programs, and job‑specific training requirements
• Maintain required certifications as applicable to the role (e.g., forklift, overhead crane, etc.)

Language/Speaking & Reading Skills

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to safely follow work instructions, safety procedures and communicate effectively in the workplace
• Frequent need (33% to 66% of the time) to verbally communicate with staff and vendors.

Certificates/Licenses

• SWPC Forklift Certification. (Certification is implied by a satisfactory test score and operation evaluation)

Work Environment

• Manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, airborne particles, noise, and moving machinery
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Such as safety glasses, safety shoes and hardhat are required.
• Work is performed in areas that may be hot, cold or subject to temperature fluctuations
