Job summary

SALVATION ARMY CORP in Columbia, SC is seeking a Temporary Full Time Kitchen Assistant to help prepare meals, serve food, and maintain a clean kitchen and dining area.

Role requires at least one year of kitchen experience or equivalent, ability to follow health regulations, and capacity to stand for long periods; candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be ready to work day shifts.

Qualifications

• One year experience working in a kitchen preferred or equivalent training.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing meals, beverages and snacks; washes and chops fruits and vegetables; mixes beverages and arranges snacks.
• Assists in serving meals ensuring appropriate proportions are provided
• Washes, dries, and stores pots, pans, plates, glasses, cups, bowls, and utensils.
• Cleans tables, chairs, and condiment holders. Sweeps, mops, polishes, strips, and waxes kitchen and dining room floors.
• Cleans refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, coffee makers, stoves, and ovens. Stock food, beverages, and supplies in an orderly and safe manner.
• Empties trash cans. Performs all kitchen work in accordance with health regulations as it relates to food preparation, food serving, and storage.
