JOB SUMMARY:

Assists in preparing and serving meals; cleans kitchen equipment and washes dishes; sweeps, mops, and waxes floors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assists in preparing meals, beverages and snacks; washes and chops fruits and vegetables; mixes beverages and arranges snacks.
• Assists in serving meals ensuring appropriate proportions are provided
• Washes, dries, and stores pots, pans, plates, glasses, cups, bowls, and utensils.
• Cleans tables, chairs, and condiment holders. Sweeps, mops, polishes, strips, and waxes kitchen and dining room floors.
• Cleans refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, coffee makers, stoves, and ovens. Stock food, beverages, and supplies in an orderly and safe manner.
• Empties trash cans. Performs all kitchen work in accordance with health regulations as it relates to food preparation, food serving, and storage.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in monitoring work of volunteers working in the kitchen.
• Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

One year experience working in a kitchen preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of cleaning practices, methods, and techniques.
• Ability to assist in the preparation and presentation of meals.
• Ability to wash dishes and kitchen appliances.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a normal kitchen environment, where there may be limited physical discomfort associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers.

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
